Maybe this time one less
Gunter Rambow; Gerhard Lienemeyer
2006
Gunter Rambow (*1938) is one of the most internationally renowned designers in the field of visual communication and cultural advertising. In the Frankfurt-based design studio Rambow and Lienemeyer (1961–1986), he created numerous photo books and influential poster series for literary events and theatrical performances as well as social issues. In particular, his posters for the Frankfurt Municipal Theatre under the directorship of Peter Palitzsch (1972–1980) were effective in transporting the theater’s socio-political ambitions into the urban space.
The poster Vielleicht mal eine weniger (Maybe this time one less) from the Museum Angewandte Kunst’s collection is one of Rambow’s early works, yet it already exhibits features characteristic of his artistic approach: the visual language underscores the message and is immediately comprehensible, whereby the recipients are not addressed as people to be seduced, but as rational citizens responsible for their own actions.
