Horae Beatae Virginis Mariae
End 15th century
The Calendar is followed by the Hours of the Virgin (Annunciation of Mary), which is followed by an additional part with prayers for Lauds and Vesper with reference to the Annunciation and the Birth of Christ. The Office of the Dead, the picture of a death watch, Hours of the Cross (Crucifixion of Christ) and the Hours of the Pentecost (Pentecost), as well as Penitential Psalms (King David), Litany, and a section for Saint Sebastian with a depiction of his martyrdom and the donor complete the manuscript. The Calendar and the Litany point to Lyon where the book may have been produced. The Crucifixion, Pentecost, David, and Job miniatures are from one hand, the other pictures from another hand.
